Margaret Hamilton

Hello everybody, I'm here again. Today I'm going to talk about a really important person in the software world.

MARGARET HAMILTON

Margarete Hamilon was a very important software engineer, is well-know for the Project Apollo.
First, she only was a keypunching, people thought it was only a woman's work. But it's not only move the slots and nothing else. It consists to program and operate the machines for they work, and also they have to set up the calculations themselves. And besides, they have to do things that nobody has maked before too. For example look at this photo:

Then, when she studied at university, she got the BA in maths, but next she had to learn how to program, at her job.

Look at this photo:

She is next to the printouts of the code for the Apollo guidance system, she writed and supervise them. But the first compiler was wrote by the Amazing Grace Hopper.
When she was about 31, the Apollo 11 lunar module landed on the moon without problem, because she design very well the program, and it was very prepared.
She recived a lot of awards for it's work, she deserve them.
I think she's a very intelligent woman, and she demonstrate people, above everithing to men. She work a lot and prepared its project, based on tests, that emerge correct or incorrect results. But in spite of everithing she got the fantastic Project Apollo, that was a difficult work, althought don't seem it; and she demonstrate that women can do the same, or more, than men, equality!

Well, before I don't know about this person, but now I know a little more and I thing she realice a great work. I hope do you have liked, its very interesting, bye bye.

Spreatsheets

Hi everyone! We started the new unit called Spreatsheets. I love this unit, it's very interesting and useful. For me it's easy and each time I want to learn more, it's funny.

A spreadsheet is a n interactive computer application program for organization, analysis and storage of data in tabular form. We use Calc, because is a spreatsheet. This is a spreadsheet:

And this is calc logo:

In this unit, we learn:
- How to do additions, subtractions, multiplications, divisions, percentages, etc.
- How to do with a number, operations of another number.
- How to make a fixed box, to make operations.
- How to make formulas, to put to a number a function and to put a formating condicion.
- How to compare numbers respect others, if they're above or under it.
- How to make different types of charts, with different characteristics.
- How to make fill series, compare dates, subtract dates, equal arithmetic numbers, geometric numbers, days, months, make a list of them, pass from arabic numbers to romanic, and viceversa, etc.

For example, here you have a picture of one exercise I made:

Well, I don't know what tell you now. This is an easy unit, so try to do it, I know you can, and why not? Try and see, but don't forget the formuls!

Bye bye, see you, I hope that you have liked and it help you.

Electronic tragedy

Hi every body I'm going to tell you about a electronic tragedy. In ICT class we whatched a video about the electronic tragedi, and I learn that if we don't recycle the environment gets worse and the people die. And we answer some questions before and after whatched it. There are some investigation questions that I can answer because I whatched the video.

The investigation questions:

1- Investigate at the Wikipedia the caracteristics of Ghana and Nigeria. What are their population, which is its level of wealth as well as the main economic activities of the two.

 - Ghana. It has a population of 27 million people. The GDP, in total, is $50 billion, and per capita, is $1,902. The principal or key activities are industrial minerals hydrocarbons and precious metals.
 - Nigeria. It has a population of 174,507,539 people. The GDP, in total, is $522 billion, and per capita,  $2,760. The principal or key activity is the productivity of petroleum, there are more activities, but it is de most important.

2- What is a free port, like Hong Kong ones?

 - Free port: a free port is a port area where, without paying customs duty, it has a lot of trade. There are a lot of free ports, but they aren't good, the workers let himselves go bribe, and this is a big problem, because the drug, the electronic remains and more bad things can pass to other places to contaminate.

3- Investigate in Wikipedia the recent story of Hong Kong. Do you know that even recently, still was a english colony?

 - Hong Kong  colonial started in the 1800 s  and finished in the 1930 s. It was a large period dominated by the aggressive expeditionary expansion by the British Empire. After invading the territory in 1800 during the Opium War, the British gained land in a series of inappropriate treaties. Early social and economic problems existed in the colony, as there were drastic differences between Eastern and Western philosophy and culture. Nonetheless, Hong Kong take advantage of the opportunity to become one of the first parts of East Asia to undergo industrialization.

4- Visit the ifixit.org page and explain which is the plan of this organization.

 - The page says hat you have yo repair things before you throw out them, because is Freedom, creates new jobs and is sustainable.

WHY REPAIR?
Repair saves you money. It saves the environment. And it connects us to our things. Ditch the throwaway economy. Join the repair revolution.

REPAIR IS FREEDOM
You bought it, you should own it. Period. You should have the right to use it, modify it, and repair it wherever, whenever, and however you want. defend your right to fix.

-We deserve the right to repair.

REPAIR CREATES JOBS

Products that can be repaired, should be repaired. Refurbished cell phones can be sold to someone new. Repaired computers bridge the digital divide. Even better, repair jobs are local. They won’t ever be shipped overseas.

-Repairable products make good sense.

-It's time for a repair jobs revolution.

REPAIR IS SUSTAINABLE

Our stuff used to be made to last. Now it's made to last only a couple of years. repair is geen. it keeps the stuff you love in service, and out of a landfill.

-What's the problem with e-waste?

-Recycling is destruction.

-Manufacturing and mining are toxic.

FIX IT YOURSELF

The world needs fixing. Some people don't have clean water because they don't know how to repair their water pumps. Many companies don't make parts and manuals available to independent repair experts. We're fixing that.
iFixit is the free repair manual. Fix your things. We’ll teach you how.

Repair is noble.

So that's why we have recyclate and care the nature, he have to buy less and with a little of your help everyone can be happy and the environment can be help and save. Help a little please!!!

The new unit, Gimp

Hi people!
GIMP is the GNU Image Manipulation Program. It is a freely distributed piece of software for such tasks as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring. It works on many operating systems, in many languages.
I started a new unit called Gimp. For the moment, in it I learned to:
-make a drawing with gimp

-put a shadow on a word

-make a border of a word
-make the logo of a word (like more shops or styles)
-flip or turn over an image

-I made some photographic collages

-and I review other units

They are very easy and fun to make. I finished all the exercises! I have to tell you that they are very, very, very easy, but I need time for them to be PERFECT. Toni gave us more exercises. There were many exercises, but we had to do them all. I'm satisfied, because finally there are exercises and not theory, which I hate. I think we are half way through, or more or less. Well, these exercises are more easy than the earlier ones, imagine it! I learned new easy interesting things with them about the changes and the retouches of the images. Like taking off a thing from a picture or putting it in, under it, behind it, but you can see it, etc. In summary, you can make more useful things with GIMP, it is used by the specialists too. So, I hope that you like it, PLEASE FOLLOW ME AND COMMENT, bye.

Unit 4

Hi! I told you the other time that I'm studying a new unit called Writer, that I love. This unit deals with an operating system called Ubuntu. It has its variants, its history, its benefit, its choice, its freedom, its usability, etc. And also about Linux and its distributions with its logos:

We did some activities with these things, and we worked with Libre Office. I learn to change the colour of the letters, to change the paragraphs, to put the letters in Italics, in Bold, Underlined, to put the footer and the header, and underline in this, etc. to put a caption on a photo, picture or table, to make a table and put border, background colour, etc. in this and more things that were easy to learn and do.

And we did nine activities for practice, and the exam. I thing it was ok. I'll tell you my mark when I know it, I hope that this will be better than the last exam.
See you soon, bye.
